Coffee cup sleeves—also referred to as coffee sleeves, coffee clutches, hot cup jackets, paper zarfs, card-zarfs, and cup holders—are essentially cylindrical sleeves that fit snugly over paper coffee cups without handles to protect the drinker’s hands from hot coffee. Although they can be found made of other materials, coffee sleeves are primarily constructed of textured paperboard. By using two (or more) nested paper cups for a single hot beverage, double-cupping is a practice that is avoided by coffee shops, fast food outlets, and other vendors thanks to coffee sleeves.
